Taking care of those pearly whites

My little man had his teeth cleaned today. He was so good. And I was so relieved. His last cleaning was a little traumatic. He wouldn't sit still or open his mouth. But we visited a new dentist office today, and they were great! The strange thing is the last place we went to was all about children. There were toys, T.V's movies for them to watch, interesting things painted on the walls, toys hanging from the ceiling etc... This office had none of that. But the way they talked to him put him completely at ease. And it's only a 15 minute drive. The last place was 45 minutes away. So yay for me lol.

Check out my brave little guy.

Counting teeth...

Bright and shiny smiles to you all :)

Shannon's Caterpillars

My bestest friend is a daycare provider, and she is doing the grow and release butterflies with her daycare kids. She asked if I would come over and get some shots of the caterpillars. But of course I will. Well here is a shot of the little critters the way you would normally see it.

And here they are all up close and personal...

And who knew they has tongues?? Not that I ever really gave it much thought before. But look real close.

Desk wars Episode 1: The take over...

These little guys are always hanging out on my desk. I think they may be plotting to take it over. They look like they are up to something anyway. I wish they would clean it! I decided instead of complaining about the things that end up on my desk everyday, I'll just start taking pictures of it. I wonder what I will find here tomorrow?? This could be interesting....and a little scary!!

I love a good mail day!!

So I go to the post office today to check my mail. And what do I find?? My favorite magazine, and a book with a note card from one of the most inspiring photographers EVER. Becker sent the book because I was one of the first three people to respond to a post. The catch is once I read it I must pass it on. I think I'll follow suit and pass it on the same way he passed it on to me. But not before I read every page.

And just because It's Rangefinder's B&W issue, I think I'll shoot in all B&W for a week. Here is todays share, Isaac with his build-a-bear owl dressed as Darth Vader. That child and his Star Wars obsession!!

Do you think they noticed??

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I was invited to guest judge a photography contest. The contest was held last Wednesday evening. And I decided to walk in with out any expectation. And my nerves were at ease....until I saw how many people were in the room. I never dreamed there would be so many people in a local camera club. But they were all so nice and welcoming. Well after working out a few technical difficulties it was on with the images. Let me just tell you there was some serious talent in that room!! I wish I would have known how difficult choosing winning images was going to be. They were all so different, and great in there own way. That is the beauty of art. And I love it!! I think the hardest part was having to stand up and talk in front of people. Wonder if they noticed my stage fright?? I had fun, even though it wasn't easy. Got to meet some interesting people that I hope to have the chance to hang out with again.

In other news (well not really news but whatever) it's funny how something as simple as a new lens can inspire someone. Sometimes it's good to just play.

Honestly, I'm nervous. And excited.

Ok so this here blog is about to get all kind of real. So check it out. I get a phone call from the president of a local photography club asking ME to judge a photo contest. Seriously?!!? Are they for real??? Who am I to judge someone else's work? I mean I know what makes up a great image. After all I critique my own work all the time. So I tell him I'll call him back in a few minutes, I need to be sure I can get out kid free that night.

I call my husband to be sure he will be home from work in time. When I told him about the phone call he asked if I wanted to do it. I told him actually I am honored that they asked. But nervous because I'm not entirely sure what I'm getting myself into. But the fact that I am nervous (and I mean shooting my first wedding all by myself nervous) tells me that I made the right decision. They say in order to grow you have to do what scares you right?

So I called back and let him know I could do it. He told me a little about how the process works. And I became slightly less shaken. And now, I'm excited. I have no idea who's going to be there. I get to meet new people who share an interest in my favorite thing to do. But I will be judging them (Paula style I'm sure lol). I have decided this is going to be fun. I think I'll take my camera, maybe take a few shots while I am there. I will be sure to share my experience with all of you!!

Baking for science. What is it??

This week I helped my daughter with a project for science. And when I say helped, I mean I was just there to supervise. Because she did it all. The baking, the icing mixing and coloring, and the decorating. I was just a talking, interactive how-to book. I think she did a fantastic job. Anyone want to guess what it's supposed to be?

Macro Monday

I got a new toy for my birthday last week. It came from one of my favorite online stores, Photojojo. They have the bestest toys. It's a wide angle and macro lens adapter. Just screw it on to the end of your lens like a filter, and play. And that is just what I did yesterday. After reviewing the pictures and looking real close at on of them I noticed something interesting. My reflection. So I cropped it real tight to post here. You can see my hands on my camera. And you can see the rail to my front porch. Pretty cool!! Tell me what I found my reflection in....

Skip, you are right, it's an eyeball here is the full image...
